Children’s Books – Drabsville Book Trailer
Jan Watford – Friday, January 18, 2013
When trying to decide how I would make my first video about my children’s picture book, Drabsville, I decided to focus on the spider which is the pet of the main character, Matt, in the book. The spider was added to the cast of characters late in the development of the book, actually after the story was thought to be completed. Anyone familiar with writing story books and the thought process behind the creation realizes that that are usually some changes to what you believe to be the finished story line. Once the book is critiqued then your viewpoint can be influenced by others. Critiques are a good thing because it is valuable to get the opinion of others including errors in text that were not previously realized. Each story is gone over many times by critique groups, but also paid editors. I also like to get a child’s point of view which includes my grandchildren. That is the true test.
