I don’t know where the time goes, but I need to post my illustrations for the last quarter of 2016. The last quarter of the year flew by for me. It seems like the older I get the faster time goes by. Most of these illustrations I did with a Facebook group, The 52 Week Illustration Challenge. This group is an international group and has over 4,000 members. A prompt is given each week and illustrators from all over the world participate with their interpretations of the prompt. After the cut off date, favorites are chosen by the groups moderators and they are posted on their blog on the website. In 2016 I spent a lot of time on these illustrations with the idea of expanding my portfolio and because I love to see the other illustrators and their creative interpretations of the weekly prompts.
This is my cat, Marley, a rag doll cat that I found at Animal Control. He loves to be held like a little baby and is very gentle and affectionate. cats are my favorite breed of cats and Marly is the third one I have owned.

These are both of my cats on my deck. They love to hang out and enjoy nature. My other cat is a dilute calico named Karma and she is the wildest and most active cat I have ever owned.

With this illustration my idea was to try to illustrate the mouse not being frightened by the big scary ghost and using the same tactics of fear for both of them .

The prompt for this illustration was the word “rainbow” i have memories from when I taught art of how children love to draw rainbows even when the weather was very bleak outside.

The prompt for this illustration was “wild animal”. I loved the pattern created in the stripes of the zebras.

The prompt for this illustration was “treehouse” I was thinking about what a treehouse for birds might look like with a special design resembling an all natural cabin, a feeding window for each bird, and a porch to cover the mother bird as she feeds each one of them.

“Clock” was the prompt for this illustration. The thought behind this illustration was a chipmunk my cat had brought inside and I could not capture.

The prompt for this illustration was “gift” It reminded me of when my son was young and went into the woods and dug up a small pine tree. He was so proud when he presented it to me for Mother’s Day saying he remembered that I had always wanted a yard with trees.

There was no prompt for this illustration. I was interested to try drawing the action upside down.

This illustration was one of my favorites that I created last year. The prompt was “holiday” and I was thinking about how excited birds must feel when the blueberries have ripened and they can have a grand feast.
I am proud of my illustrations for the last quarter of 2016. I think it helps to be able to look back on what I accomplished creatively and especially long term over the last couple of years. Please feel free to leave comments on the form below.
