What Can You Do For Small Business Saturday? It is Saturday November 28, 2015.  As I am writing this, it is today.  It is observed every year in conjunction with Black Friday and Cyber Monday to recognize small businesses throughout America. Everyone is well aware of what Black Friday is, with the huge discounts and massive sales at stores and malls.  Most of the stores though, are huge businesses like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc They have huge budgets for advertising and have many gimmicks to get customers into their stores.  Cyber Monday is the internet’s version of Black Friday with many bargains online and especially on Amazon.com and other large online businesses. Why is Small Business Saturday so important? It is simple, many small businesses are the back bone of America. They are run by entrepreneurs that have invested not only their life’s savings and blood, sweat and tears trying to make every thing work properly. Their fight to be recognized along with the big corporations and chain stores is not easy.

Small Business Saturday was started six years ago.  It is always the Saturday after Black Friday and two days before Cyber Monday.  “Last year alone, 88 million consumers shopped small on Small Business Saturday – which was up 14.9 percent from 2013. Additionally, consumers spent $14.3 billion at local and independent businesses on Small Business Saturday in 2014, and this year the hype and buzz surrounding the day seems to have only increased.”, according to Nicole Leinbach-Reyhle, with Forbes.com.

So now that we have a better understanding, what can you do for small business Saturday? Two words, shop small.  Look for small businesses in your community and spend your money there. It could be a mom and pop restaurant or small store, nail salon, barber shop, beauty shop, also online businesses, including, artists, writers and authors, craftsmen.  They all need your help and helping their business grow.  I am one of those businesses.  I have a couple of websites that have products. I need help to grow my business so I can continue to do the things I love in my retirement which include my artwork, illustration, and children’s books. I have a wide range of prices from $1.50 for coloring digital downloads, $ 15-30 for art prints and original paintings for $100 and up.  I also have a line of ceramic ornaments and magnets that I will personalize free for under $10.  I especially need help now because I need traffic to my websites to get ranking so I will be found by the online search engines. Can you help by purchasing anything on any of these price ranges?  I would appreciate it so much.
