Simple, uncluttered and amusing are the three words that come to mind in review of Bo Zaunder’s Interactive storybook app, The Artist, Mortimer. It is a story of an artist and how he loves to paint more than anything else in the world and a problem that he has to overcome to be able to keep painting. Many storybook apps are very busy with activity. The striking quality of this app is its simplicity and uncluttered activity and sound.
Author of 4 children’s books and illustrator of 6, Bo Zaunders is the recipient of the Georgia Picture Book Award. The special significance of this award is that it is judged by children. . On his website he tells the story of how the app came about with a simple doodle he had made years ago.
