A new digital children’s book, People Are Like Lollipops, has recently been made available in IBooks on IPad and on Kindle. The author, Annie Fox, M.Ed, has over thirty years experience writing and teaching educational content for children. She originally wrote and illustrated People Are Like Lollipops in 1971 as an undergraduate at Cornell University. The book was published by Holiday House at a time when people were just beginning to celebrate diversity. The present digital edition has been reimagined with the addition of illustrations by Brian Narelle. a former writer and illustrator for Sesame Street. His whimsical and colorful illustrations immediately capture the viewer’s attention.
The premise of the book is to present to young children the comparison of the diversity of people to the many different kinds of lollipops. The comparison is made in easy to understand terms that makes the learning fun and is an excellent way to introduce diversity to young children. The book is a wonderful way to introduce diversity to a child before he starts school.
