The year is slipping by and I realized that I have not posted my new illustrations, April – July 2016. I have continued to participate in the 52 Week Illustration Challenge, an international illustration group that has a weekly prompt. My illustrations for this group have included both digital and traditional illustration. Each illustration brings a new learning experience. I have found that illustration is very challenging. There is criteria that needs to be considered to make sure the viewer understands what is trying to be conveyed. When creating a painting, the artist creates what they want. The viewer may get the idea behind the artwork and maybe not. With illustration it is critical that the correct idea is conveyed while also using the correct principles of art. Like any learned activity this becomes easier the more it is practiced. I have discovered that I like the freedom allowed in creating my fine artwork but also like the challenge of illustration.
I also have been taking part in SVS Learn Third Thursdays. I have not had the time to spend on this as much as I would like because of other obligations but plant to somehow work it into my schedule in the future. It is such a good learning experience. SVS Learn Third Thursdays has a prompt for illustration once a month. The illustrations can be uploaded for critique on an online webinar and critique session with professional illustrators, Will Terry, Jake Parker, and Lee White.
I also took part in World Watercolor Month for July and painted watercolor paintings to participate in this group. There was not enough time to paint one per day. Although I do create artwork every day, most of the time it takes me more than one day to complete it. Those paintings are posted on my fine art website and can be seen by clicking here.
There are many opportunities to learn and encourage creativity online and this is demonstrated with my new illustrations, April- July 2016. I hope you have enjoyed this blog and viewing my illustrations. Please leave a comment on the form below and let me know your thoughts and sign up on the red for my newsletter.
