One of the wonderful things about how rapidly the world of children’s apps is growing is the amount of new concepts that are being introduced of to teach the basic concepts in education for children. Although storybook apps are a wonderful way for children to expand their knowledge in literature, there is also an open field for specialized learning apps such as Endless Reader. As a teacher I see the value in apps for learning because of the fascination children hold for the magic of the digital world.
The goal of Endless Reader is to teach Spelling and phonics to young children. It is a simple learning goal but one that usually is extremely boring for children. Endless Reader has made learning much more interesting by adding animation and the phonic sound for each letter. The simple words are scrambled and then children can drag and drop the letters into place to encourage them to spell. A sentence appears on the screen with a few simple words out-of-place. Children drag and drop the words into place.
Features:
– 6 words free to try, and the complete Reader Pack 1 of 20 additional words available for purchase. More Reader Packs will be available for purchase in the future.
– Delightful animations reinforce sight recognition of words in a fun and interactive way.
– Word puzzles reinforce spelling using lower-case letters and the sentence puzzles teach definition and usage (in addition to sight recognition).
– There are no high scores, failures, limits or stress. Children can interact with the app at their own pace.

My rating: **** 4 stars – I admire the educational aspect of this app but wish more words could be offered free. The simplicity of its learning objectives are wonderful and easy to understand. I think this app offers great learning possibilities for children and think it is worth watching for future updates.
