Fall is special in many ways including the celebration of Halloween and Thanksgiving, the changing of the seasons with the leaves beginning to fall, but also for another reason: November is picture book month. For writers, authors and illustrators of picture books this is a special celebration that recognizes the love we all have for picture books. For young children is their first introduction to literature, art and education. By expanding a child’s imagination and vocabulary, picture books pave the road to further learning processes for young children. They are important in so many ways.
There are several special month-long activities in November that I am taking part in for picture book month. One is PiBoIdMo, Picture Book Idea Month, where are participants create and idea a day or 30 new ideas for books during the month of November for new picture books. The other is SkADaMo, Sketch A Day Month, which is just as the word implies and is a sketch a day for a month. I will be posting my sketches here in my blog. Check them out and let me know what you think by leaving a comment.
I just joined yesterday but here are a few of my sketches I have been working on of angels.
